Family Values = Reliv Values
Family values. That familiar phrase is a cornerstone idea in the Reliv Company! For over twenty years this company is a producer and seller of unique "patented" line of nutrition that is run by a family of founders, friends, and distributors and they all feel that they are a part of the Reliv Family.
Reliv operates in 14 countries and is based in St. Louis, Missouri. Forbes, Fortune, BusinessWeek and many others are talking about this outstanding company. They speak highly of the leadership of this company starting right at the top with our founders - Robert and Sandy Montgomery.

Robert and Sandy Montgomery
Robert and Sandy started the Reliv Company after using Dr. Kalogris's product for about three years. The life changing nutrients that they had been taking was like nothing they had ever used before and they knew they had something different. They were also people who desired to invest in other people's lives and shared the product with friends and family. It became evident that this was too good to keep a secret and needed to be shared. So Robert and Sandy started looking for leaders in the field of Food Science and convinced a leader in that area to join them in our mission to Nourish The World. Carl Hastings was just that scientist. He had worked for other food companies - like Mead/Johnson developing infant formula with their team of scientists and also Weight Watchers. Carl helped refine these products and has developed many more with the scientific team at Reliv. He holds five additional patents that are part of the Reliv line with more to come.

When you have something this good it is hard to keep it from the ones you love. All of the children in the Montgomery family saw that their parents had developed a wonderful company that was producing life changing products. Scott Montgomery, their eldest son, is now the company's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He shares that, "We were started differently. We had a product that we knew was effective, so we found a way to build the company around that product. Some companies actually start with a great business plan first and then find a product to fit into it. Our intention was different, and that’s one of the things that make us unique.”
Robert Montgomery and Carl Hastings have enjoyed developing the company to the point it is today. But as with any good things growth happens and many family members from both families are totally invested with Reliv. “I’ve been at Relìv from its baby stages,” Scott says. At the beginning, Scott worked in the warehouse part time while getting his college education. “When I finished school, it was an easy decision to start working at Relìv full time. Our family has always been close, and my parents, sister and brother are part of the company. I believe in good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle; and I believe in the direct selling industry. Plus, five years into the company, I just knew its potential. And I had been a consumer of the original Relìv product for six or seven years before the company was started. I had seen my own results and those of my family, so coming on board was an easy decision for me to make.”
Scott thinks it is wonderful to be in business with those you love and counts it a privilege to work with them on a daily basis. Many may think that he sees this as a birthright, but he values Reliv and realizes that it is a privilege to be a part of something as special as the Reliv Company. “Working in a family business is one of the most rewarding parts of my job, but it can also be challenging,” he says. “We’re here because we’re a tight-knit group and we all believe so much in what we’ve got. You could always say that because your last name is Montgomery, you’ve advanced faster. But even though we’re family, we’ve all worked very hard. To me, it’s important to lead by example. So when distributors or employees look at my folks, at me, at my brother and at the Hastings, I hope that their reaction is, because they all work hard, I’ll work hard, too. Nobody in the family takes our roles in Relìv for granted. And our board of directors always looks at our executive team with the same long-term question that any board asks. Who is best qualified to take Relìv through the next 20 years?”
